The weeks just seem to be getting busier and busier with no sign of letting up. Lucky for me, I have my best friend to share in all of the chaos with. From concerts to football games, I'm so incredibly grateful for the life we are building together. There's always sunshine through the rain with him by my side.
I spent the entire weekend indoors hiding out from the rain except to bundle up to grab take out or a quick walk with Ziggy.Although I loosely blame the rain for this heightened level of laziness; after traveling so much in November it just felt good to be home. This weekend called for oversized sweaters and over-the-knee socks - comfy, perusing magazines, compiling my Christmas shopping list and talking on the phone with my favorite. And after the storms finally passed, there were a few rays of sunshine to enjoy before the weekend was over.
There's nothing like spending the holiday with my two favorite gals. This year my mom and I took the show on the road and visited my Grandmother in Texas for Thanksgiving. The trip itself wasn’t all too eventful, but the time spent together was priceless. As I get older, I find more and more it’s the simple things that matter most.
1.My mom & Gammy enjoying after dinner warmers
2.Shopping for accessories and sparkly baubles at Charming Charlie
This last week was more hectic and stressful than weeks past so a trip to North Carolina was exactly what I needed. From breakfasts at home to a stroll down the main drag in Southern Pines to cozy naps on the couch I couldn't ask for more, especially because it was time all spent with my favorite. While it's a joke amongst my friends that I always seem to find myself in long distance relationships, I've never felt so close to someone and he's all the way across the country. Lucky for me, in just a few months this will all change as he packs up and moves out West. I couldn't be more thrilled to begin this chapter of my life with someone so special. And of course, the cross country roadtrip we're planning just add to all the excitement of the adventures ahead.
1. Feeling Fall in North Carolina
2. Listening to my favorite play the guitar on a Saturday night
3. Wagon Wheel, by Old Crow Medicine Show - you just can't go anywhere without hearing this song. I love that.
Yesterday I received the most amazing phone call from my favorite letting me know he was moving to California much, much earlier than planned. Now I'm feeling like the luckiest girl ever.
After I woke up Saturday achy with a slight fever, I knew I needed to slow things down. Especially with a trip to Vermont for work just days away followed by a quick stop in North Carolina, I just can't afford to be sick. A strict regimen of chicken soup, echinacea, Ben & Jerry's (self prescribed), cuddle time with Ziggy, a little FaceTime with my favorite, and a ton of rest already has me feeling better and ready to face whatever this week may hold.
1. My new hair must have by Aveda. Perfect for those who travel.
Is anyone else as excited as I am for the new No Doubt album? It's hard to settle down with them back in action after 10 long years. And with every album, there comes a tour, right? Get ready to see some killer looks from effortlessly cool, Gwen Steffani.
Let's face it - bathing suit season is just around the corner and whether you are ready or not, it's happening. When it comes to choosing a bathing suit, you just can't go wrong with neon - the brighter the better. Play with different styles and cuts and have fun. Just make sure to rotate suits so your tan lines can fill in.
And of course, don't forget your sunscreen. Safety first, kids.
This weekend was nothing short of being jam-packed and fun-filled. Friday night, I headed over to Slim's to see one of my favorite bands, Counting Crows. Saturday morning, I took Ziggy with me to the nail salon, where he waited very patiently. He was rewarded with a visit to the park where he could run around while I caught up on The Hunger Games for my Spreecast book club. As usual, while I sat on the park bench reading and soaking up some sun, there was Z sitting right next to me on the bench. Someone needs to break the news to him that he is a dog! Later, I met friends for lunch at the Presidio Social Club and then we attended the Taste of Success benefit for Junior Achievement at the Golden Gate Club. We had a great time sampling a seemingly never-ending selection of fine wines and delicious food. During the afternoon, we bid on several items from the silent and live auction. This was a great event and very well run - quite impressive!
Saturday night, one of my childhood friends came up for a visit and as always, we had a blast - my sides still hurt from laughing so hard. No matter where we are or what we do, we always manage to have a great time.
Thankfully, Sunday was much calmer. Sleeping in, enjoying a lazy lunch, and a little spring cleaning were some of my most strenuous activities for the day.
1. Listening to Adam Duritz sing that sweet poetry. Love.
2. Wine tasting for a cause in good company. Does it get much better?
3. Finding this photo of Ziggy as a baby – just precious!
The perfect look for date night in warm Palm Springs. Rather than go out for New Year’s Eve, we opted for dinner out the following evening and found ourselves at Flemings Steakhouse where I enjoyed one of the BEST martini’s ever - blue cheese stuffed olives rock my world. And I still find myself daydreaming about the molten lava cake with whipped cream.
