3 Things.

This weekend was equal parts indulgent as it was relaxing.  From delicious food favorites to purchasing some lovely items at Tory Burch to catching up on reading for my Spreecast book club (almost there) to lounging around my family home, it was certainly a contrast in activities.  Adding to the balance was participating in The Great Race in Los Gatos, where the feeling of community is so prevalent.  Oh, and did I mention the weather was 80 degrees and sunny?

1. Rediscovering little neighborhood treasures, Unwined.

2. The scent of jasmine on a warm day

3. The Great Race for the Rotary Club of Los Gatos – gorgeous day for a 5k

Strawberry Jicama Salad.

I can't think of anything better than ripe strawberries, crunchy jicama, herbaceous cilantro and fresh cucumber lightly dressed with a honey-kissed lime dressing. Adding the chile adds the perfect hint of heat that rounds out the sweetness of the strawberries.

Ingredients:
2 cups strawberries, diced
1 cup jicama, peeled and diced
1/2 cup cucumber, diced
1 serrano chile, minced (remember to remove the seeds first)
3 tbs fresh cilantro, finely chopped
2 tbs red onion, minced
2 tbs fresh lime juice
1 tbs extra virgin olive oil
1 tbs agave nectar
salt & pepper to taste

Directions
Combine strawberries, jicama, cucumber, chile, cilantro and red onion in a bowl and set aside. In another bowl whisk together lime juice, olive oil and agave nectar until well combined. Add dressing to the salad and season with salt and pepper, as needed. Serve over greens or enjoy as is. Delish!

There's nothing like the fail safes - a soft white tee, jeans and a crisp blazer. Just add a fun clutch and a little arm candy for a clean, simple look.

There is nothing I love more than good things happening to good people, especially when those people are ones that I love. Great things are happening all around and I feel so fortunate to witness as life unfolds. And with happy news brings need to celebrate - something I always love to be a part of.

1. Attending the annual Junior League of SF fashion show with 2 of my favorite gals

2. An amazing view on a clear day at the Top of the Mark

3. Brunch in San Carlos with old (& new) friends at Piacere and enjoying a gorgeous sunny day

Just wanted to give an update on my little Ziggy for those of you concerned. So far, he’s been 4 legs strong for 2 full weeks, which is HUGE considering he had to be carried most everyone just a few weeks back. Taking advantage of his strength (and added energy I hadn’t seen in weeks) we took a nice walk in to get some flowers from my favorite florist, Bunches. After all that walking (and flower shopping) we sat on the bench outside and enjoyed the passersby.

Palacio.

When it comes to new restaurants, my rule of thumb is to try it twice before I make any judgment (unless it’s too terribly bad to go back), but when I find one I like I’m hooked. Slightly embarrassed to admit this, but I pretty much moved into Palacio’s restaurant last weekend - going to happy hour on Saturday and then the following day for brunch on Easter Sunday and then back again for happy hour that same evening. What can I say, I absolutely love the town of Los Gatos and really love those margaritas from Palacio’s.

Find Sierra.

This past Easter weekend was spent doing something much different than previous years. My Mom and I volunteered to join the search for the missing Morgan Hill 15 year old, Sierra LaMar. As soon as I checked in at the Find Sierra Search Center, it was hard to keep from crying. I was moved by all the people working in one space with such purpose; all working towards one goal - to bring Sierra home. I can't even imagine what her family and friends are going through, and for that, I am so thankful.

Volunteering is easy. The KlaasKids Foundation has set up the Find Sierra Search Center at Burnett Elementary School in Morgan Hill.  Those who would like to participate in the search should check in at the school between the hours of 8am - 1pm. Searches are mostly held daily, but check the Find Sierra Facebook page for updates here. You must be at least 18 years old with a valid ID, and that's all you need. We were grouped with 10 others, and then assigned a team number and search area. We were told to look for anything that doesn't "belong" there.

During the search, we combed through tall brush (like 10 feet tall), poison oak, prickly bushes, and who knows what else. I have to admit it was brutal at times, and under other circumstances, I might have quit. But because the cause was so great, all of us completed the search. Then, it was back to the Center for debriefing, where findings were reported and discussed with an expert.

Should you decide to go out and join the search for Sierra, a few tips:
  • Wear long pants and tall socks underneath Wear comfortable shoes you do not mind getting very dirty.
  • Do not wear your hair down - put up in a ponytail or bun, wear a hat or hoodie. You do not want to get any ticks.
  • Gloves are a great idea to bring.
  • Wear a thin long sleeved shirt and layers. Poison oak and ivy may be in you path, not fun.
  • Bring a golf club to move through
  • Drink water.
  • Don't complain. It just brings the team down and things be so much worse. Seriously.
  • Remember please and thank you go a long way, especially with 10 new personalities thrown together.
Please don't think this post is saying you should drop everything and join the search, however, I am encouraging you to do something positive for your community. Your community takes care of you in many ways you don't even notice. Donating your time makes a difference in others' lives and can be highly rewarding.

Everything's Just Rosie.

vintage//Bulova watches c/o Watchco.com//Stella & Dot

I’ve had some random rosegold bracelets in my jewelry box for quite some time, but have found myself passing them by time and time again because they never looked right together. That is, until introducing this rosegold Bulova watch into the mix; striking the right balance of classic, femininity with an edgy touch. Quite the threesome, huh?

3 Things.

The past few weeks have been quite eye opening, but think I'm learning a lot with each hurdle. I've been finding myself slowing down (just in the slightest) so that I can enjoy the smaller things that I may have previously overlooked. It's all in the details, isn't it?

1. A happy Ziggy who is currently using ALL 4 legs - big win for Team Ziggy!

2. Beautiful stained glass windows from some of my favorite Cathedrals

3. Quite possibly the best ham sandwich I've ever had from the Purple Onion Cafe in Los Gatos (we so need one in San Francisco)
