Lunch Date.

It's hard to believe that just a few days ago I was sitting outside enjoying lunch in the sunshine along the Embarcadero with my friend, Juvella. While going to the Ferry Building on a Saturday during the Farmer's Market can sound like a nightmare some - it is pretty much the exact point in SF where tourists and locals collide. So much confusion and so much frustration but so much fun to people watch as long as you are safely corralled on the patio at the Market Bar. Plus you can swing by the Farmer's Market for just a moment and grab some dark chocolate almond toffee - YUM!

Stand Tall.

{Dolce Vita Jianna wedges}

I've always been insecure about my height, at least when it comes to my day time shoe choice both out of comfort and practicality. I'm only 5'6" but I think it's such an awkward height - not short enough to feel {and look} comfortable in a pair of Jeffrey Campbell platforms and definitely not tall enough to dream of becoming a model plus city living = lots of walking. But fuck it, I just got these Dolce Vita's via Gilt Groupe and I couldn't be happier. They're black leather, lace up espadrilles that just don't quit and I cannot wait to stand tall in them all over the city. Look out, San Francisco!

3 Things.

Summer is here {even in SF} making my daily commute by foot to work and neighborhood walks with Ziggy much more enjoyable. I live to walk by the sweet smelling Japanese lilac trees; their scent strongly enhanced under the sun's warmth. And the weekend was filled with F-U-N with great friends celebrating all things PINK. From the very simple to the wildest party of the year, here are three things that bring me happiness.

1. Like I said, I live for this scent. It brings an instant smile to my face.

2. Passing out pink balloons with friends on Pink Saturday.

3. Finding the perfect sheer shimmer nail polish that give any color a feminine girly touch.

Natural Progression.

{H&M jacket, Gap tank, J Crew shorts, shoes & clutch, thrifted necklace, Tory Burch & CC Skye bracelets}

I'm having a good time with my new camera. I took a ton of pictures this past weekend in Santa Cruz. I'm learning. Slowly. After the fog burned off, the weather was amazing. Good enough to wear shorts, which I paired with my latest obsession - my new linen tuxedo jacket. Since my outfit is pretty neutral I add dimension witth leather wrap bracelets,a  hammered metal collar {that I got here} and a leopard clutch. The shoes, I just moved forward in my close last week. Patent bows with peep toes with a reasonable heel - Love! Plus the nude color blends to give the illusion of longer legs. Who doesn't love that?

Now if I could just keep a straight face in my photos, things would move along much faster.

Sharon Tate.

At dinner the other night my new friends, Joel and Robert, kept saying I look like Sharon Tate - we do share a love for mascara. Actually, they may be my new best friends because she was one gorgeous dame.

I told you I was in good company ;)

In Good Company.

The other night I found myself at an intimate fundraising dinner hosted by the wonderful Owner and Baker, Pascal Rigo and Alain Bourgade, Chef de Cuisine, of La Boulange. The evening offered a welcoming aperitif and three course family style meal baked right out of the bread oven. The donations collected were matched by La Boulange {a total of $10,600} and went directly to La Cocina*. C'était délicieux!

*La Cocina is a nonprofit incubator kitchen inspired by the ethnically diverse, economically vulnerable community and created out of the belief that given the correct resources, these natural entrepreneurs can create self-sufficient businesses that benefit themselves, their families, and their community.

Hello, Summer.

Summer Love.

Now that Summer is finally here {and it actually feels like it in the city} it's time to put some extra thought into each outfit. Given I do live in the city by the bay, the fog can roll in and change the weather on a dime so layering is key. Enter, the structured linen jacket. Although linen is often not a choice fabric not loved by all because of the wrinkle factor. BUT it is a piece that has the ability to transform an outfit from simple to chic. In other words, it's time to invest in a steamer {I love this one}, which tends to be much faster than ironing anyway. Pair your linen jacket with a girly dress - the structure of the jacket provides a masculine note to an otherwise feminine look. Or add an element of sophistication by pairing with wide leg Parisian-inspired trousers, ruffled blouse and special jewelry pieces. Here are some choice styles to recreate these looks.
1. Tsumori Chisato lightweight jacket, $740
2. Isabel Marant long jacket, £505
3. Oasis linen jacket, £65
4. DAY Birger et Mikkelsen linen jacket, $250
5. H M linen jacket, £15
6. Richard Chai Love linen jacket, $279
7. Elizabeth and James metallic blazer, $425
8. TopShop linen jacket, $120

3 Things.

This weekend was quite relaxing. I enjoyed an amazing dinner in good company, had success while thrifting, took walks on the beach and most importantly slept in both Saturday and Sunday - something I never do {but obviously needed}. Minus a project for work that started Sunday morning without a hitch, I was able to disconnect from work. This weekend was the perfect kind of calm I needed. I just love Santa Cruz so much.

1. Discovering Super Vanilla Poundcake from La Boulange {my new favorite treat}.

2. Sterling silver earrings with a cool Art Deco feel I found at Clearwater Bazaar.

3. Taking Ziggy to the beach to play in the sand. He loved it! And I enjoyed the beautiful Santa Cruz weather.

Epic.

Dads are the Original Hipsters - BEST tumblr ever.

The San Franciscan who writes this blog has a great appreciation for all dad's bad ass. With sharp witted blurbs that illustrate just how epic you're father was the ultimate trendsetter and how you're not {original}. All this translated through old photos of your dad being awesome - or some version of that..some photos creep me out.

Watch out Dad. I'm submitting in the hopes of forever immortalizing just how truly bad ass you are.

Until then, I'll do it myself....

Happy Father's Day to the BEST dad a girl could ever ask for. I love you.

Cantaloupe.

Thanks to my dad for picking my new go-to shade for the Summer {it makes you look more tan than you are} during his first mani yesterday. He loved it. Cutest. Thing. Ever.

3 Things.

This weekend I found a lot of time to catch up on sleep, which is a great thing considering I have quite a busy week on tap, but sure to be well worth it considering the crazy ends at the beach -always a personal favorite. Until then, here's what's currently making my day.

1. Ziggy is healthy & well - turns out he has acid reflux which is going to take some getting used to, but I'm so relieved that there is nothing majorly wrong with him. My little baby.

2. Umm yum. And could only mean one thing - My Dad is in town. Yippee!

3. This. And it's all mine :)

Little Brown Bootie.

Little Brown Bootie.

Lately, I've been obsessing over little brown boots - tearing through the pages of a my many magazines and perusing my favorite online shopping, trying to find my perfect pair-I'm still weighing on whether I want a more masculine ankle boot or feminine bootie. And while I do own these Blowfish cuties, I'm really looking to accentuate my canklessness with something a little tighter around the ankle. Yes, cankless-ness meaning the opposite of cankles {or the area of the leg where the calf meets the foot in an abrupt, non tapering terminus way}. -Ness, just to make the word an abstract concept, and obviously just making this whole thing that much cooler. Which pair would you choose?
1. Forever21 wood heels, $30
2. Belstaff brown shoes, 304 GBP
3. Michael Kors open toe shoes, $459
4. HTC vintage shoes, 619 EUR
5. Manolo Blahnik leather booties, $916
6. Miu Miu lace up bootie, $795
7. Diane von Furstenberg brown booties, 398 GBP

CFDA Fashion Awards {in a nutshell}

Lifetime Achievement Award winner Marc Jacobs was undoubtedly the man of the moment at the CFDA's {basically the Oscar's of Fashion}

Jacobs, who received his 'half-lifetime' gong by close friend Sofia Coppola, said during his speech, "This achievement is born of love, passion, creativity... and a hell of a lot of hard work. I believe we all know and feel the greatest reward is the process itself."

Lifetime Achievements aside, the Womenswear Designer of the Year went to Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez for Proenza Schouler {whose company name comes from their mothers' maiden names}

The fabulous Alexander Wang took home the Accessory Designer of the Year Award {pictured above with Iris Apfel, La-La-Love her!} and Prabal Gurung won the Swarovski Womenswear Award for up-and-coming talent {beating out the Olsen twins who debuted their new handbag line. Can you say ah-mazing?}

And then there is the Fashion Icon Award, which went to the blue-haired Lady Gaga. Who, true to form {and quite cheeky} in Thierry Mugler. Big difference from last year's recipient - Iman.

Michael Bastian was named Menswear Designer of the Year, and Céline's Phoebe Philo was given the International Award, while the CFDA Board of Directors’ Special Tribute Award was given to photographer Arthur Elgort.

And then of course, Anna Wintour. Simply stunning.

**Nominations for each award category are submitted by the CFDA Fashion Awards Selection Committee, which is made up of around 300 members and over 500 fashion retailers, journalists, and stylists.
