The Best Days.

My most favorite days are spent with this guy, my dad. Love him.

Browned Butter Sage & Butternut Squash Ravioli.

By the silence at the table during dinner, I took this as a good sign. I made things super simple by purchasing the butternut squash ravioli from Trader Joe's. It was insanely delicious and my best meal to date.

Ingredients:
4 tbsp butter
8 sage leaves
1/2 lemon, juiced
1/4 cup grated Parmigiano

Directions: While the pasta cooks, melt butter in a saute pan and continue cooking until golden brown color appears in the thinnest liquid of the butter. Add sage leaves and remove from heat. Add lemon juice and set aside. Drain pasta and pour into saute pan and return to heat. Add the cheese, toss to coat and serve immediately.

Enjoy!

Simply Smitten.

Loving Everlane's first denim dress number. It's the perfect look to lounge about over the weekend.

3 Things.

Glipse of the Golden Gate

Long weekends are the best. Especially with how quick the pace of life has been lately (Am I alone here?). While things continue to move at lightening speed, I'm so happy we were able to slow things down over the weekend and take time to enjoy the little things.

Happy Memorial Day.

Great conviction leads to great change because of those willing to make the hard decisions and huge sacrifice. In honor of all the veterans as well as the active service members. Thank you for all you do.

Sticky Fingers.

There's nothing like the softest cashmere and a new pair of shoes to brighten up this gals day. Although I have to admit, I totally stole this sweater from my mom. Completely unintentional, but I know she wasn't thrilled. But not to worry, it's already been returned to it's rightful owner. (Sorry about that, Mom!)

Tiger Eye.

It's starting to feel a lot like Summer - your hair is getting lighter and your skin is getting tanner so naturally it's time to transition your makeup for the new season. And this is the perfect shade to a seamless transition.

3 Things.

Lunch at The Rotunda with my future brother-in-law

This past weekend was nice and quiet - exactly what was needed after the long week. Is it me or is everyone running at maximum speed in life right now? Anyway, we went to visit my mom and simply relax. It was fantastic and I can't wait to pick up right where I left off this coming holiday weekend.

Flower Child.

This weather is bringing out the inner flower child inside. All I can focus on is flowing fabrics, fun patterns and locating a flower crown stat. Be cool this weekend xo

Black Bean & Corn Salsa.

This insanely hot California weather calls for lighter meals - there's nothing more uncomfortable than feeling overheated and stuffed full. I had tried this recipe before sans tomato, but opted to try with this time. Obviously the heat is getting to me because I can't stand tomatoes, but have to admit this time was so much better - the juice from the tomato makes everything come together; my previous attempt was more of a salad rather than a salsa. Either way, it's delicious!

Ingredients
1 cup black beans
1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
1 cup corn
2 cloves garlic
4 green onions
2 jalapeño peppers
1/2 red onion, chopped
1/2 cup tomato, chopped
2 tbsp lime juice
1/2 tsp red pepper
1 tsp salt

Directions: mix all the ingredients together and enjoy! (Even better, let marinate overnight)

Celebrating my mom on Mother's Day

From wine tasting to shopping to a looong walk with Ziggy and then dinner at Palacio, my mom and I covered all grounds for Mother's Day. Sometimes it's just so fun to escape the city noise and go home sweet home.

Crossroads.

Sometimes life just isn't fair, but it's important to remember everything happens for a reason. While you may not understand everything as it happens, it'll all make sense in the end. Have faith.

Lentil & Ham Soup.

Nothing like a little comfort food.

Ingredients:
1 cup dried lentils
1 cup chopped carrots
1 cup chopped celery
1 cup chopped onion
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 1/2 cups of diced cooked ham
1/2 tsp dried basil
1/4 cup dried thyme
1/2 cup dried oregano
1 bay leave
1/4 tsp black pepper
32 ounces of chicken broth
1 cup water
8 tsp tomato sauce

Directions: In a large slow cooker combine the lentils, celery, carrots, onion, garlic and ham. Season with basil, thyme, oregano, the bay leaf and pepper. Stir in the chicken broth, water and tomato sauce. Cover and cook on Low for 11 hours. Discard the bay leaf before serving.

Enjoy!

Sweet Moments.

There's nothing better than starting the day off right with breakfast before work. We don't have time for it often, so when the stars align and we find ourselves with a few extra minutes it's great to just pause together and enjoy the moment.

Rest In Peace.

We woke yesterday to learn that S's grandmother had passed away. Having suffered a stroke on Friday, this was a truth we feared. While I only met her twice, those moments I will forever treasure. More than anything, it's just a reminder to hold on just a little bit tighter when you have the chance.
