3 Things.

View from my home away from home, The Plaza

While it took us a little longer than expected, my mom and I finally made it to New York City. From the moment we touched down, we've been on the move and having so much fun. The older I get the more I appreciate the time I get to spend with my mom. I'm lucky to have not only a mother, but best friend in her too. She's truly one in a million.

Early morning view of the San Francisco skyline

Three day weekends are simply the best. With my trip to New York City just days away there's a ton to do and I haven't even begun to think about what to pack. And to delay things even further, S and I relocated to a friends home for a Labor Day weekend staycation. While our friends are away, we've taken over their home exploring a new neighborhood, enjoying the extra space and all meals al fresco.

Date night the Greek Theatre

After an incredibly busy week preparing for a business trip, S and I changed pace before my departure with a Counting Crows concert in Berkeley. My absolute favorite. Early the next day, I headed to Las Vegas for some pool time with one of my best girls, before work reality set in on Sunday. The weekend went by too fast, they always do when you're having this much fun.

We sat right here every day after breakfast and took in this incredible view

Last week was the best week of my life - I married my best friend in the presence of our beloved family and friends exactly 2 years from the day we met. The day after the celebration, we headed down Hwy 1 to Half Moon Bay for our honeymoon. I'm plan to share the details of our nuptials on the blog, but for now will savor the memories that made last week so special.

Visiting Osage County, KS

There's nothing like a change of pace to gain a little perspective. I love the energy of city living, but find myself fully relaxed waking to the sound of birds chirping each morning (rather than the obnoxious honks of car horns). We leave Kansas today, but with so many new memories I'll forever cherish.

                                            {A little place to call home for the week}

It's the most wonderful time of the year. That's right, it's New York Fashion Week. We've only been here for just a few days, but already this trip has been absolutely incredible. Every moment I spend in New York is a reminder of how truly blessed I am. I can't wait to share my adventures along the way with you. Much, much more to come. xx

3 Things.

There's nothing I love more than spending time with my Grandmother - she's the cutest little thing ever! A few years ago, I made her a promise that my mom and I would spend Thanksgiving at her home in Texas going forward. It's fun to pause for a moment and spend time with the ones you love the most. One things for sure, there is never a shortage of laughs with those two.

1. Something old, something new - my grandmother's Nantucket High School class ring from 1946. Haven't taken it off since I put it on.

2. Finding this lovely photo of my dressed as a cowgirl. That hair!

3. Goofing around with my favorite traveling partner, my mom.

Sunset Take Off.

Although busy, I had such a great time in New York this week. Looking forward to catching up on sleep this weekend!

3 Things.

With the holiday's quickly approaching, it's important to take a few minutes to stop and take in everything happening around you. While I don't pause enough to do this, I found a few moments this weekend that made all the difference in the world. With a busy week ahead packed full of meetings, I still managed to check out and enjoy myself. Thank goodness!

1. Obsessed with my new tote from Everlane. The Petra collection is the best addition yet.

2. Finding beauty among a pile of weeds. Love this about Santa Cruz.

3. Heading back to my happy place for the week - New York City.

3 Things.

My extended weekend in Texas went by in a flash; I can't believe it's over and I'm already heading back to work. Time really does fly when you are having fun and this is exactly what I needed with some very eventful weeks coming up!

1. Dinner on the pier at my favorite restaurant, Snoopy's. As a tradition, we always have dinner here the first night in Corpus Christi and have been doing so since I was a little girl.

2. Monarch butterflies filled the air bringing an almost magical feel to Texas.

3. Finding the plane my dad learned to fly on years ago is such a special moment in my life. I'm a proud Navy daughter.

Above the Storm.

After a long, bumpy night, I landed safely in Corpus Christi, TX for a long weekend at the beach with my mom. After the last few weeks, I couldn't be happier to trade the city noise for the sound of waves as I fall asleep at night.

Sunny Days Ahead.

Looking forward to a weekend of sunshine in Santa Cruz with my mom and Ziggy. I wonder what kind of trouble we get ourselves into. Happy weekend! xo

Don't Worry. Be Happy.

This Friday never felt so good after an insane week where everything that possibly could go wrong, went wrong. Seriously, obstacles seemed to follow me wherever I went and I'm so happy the weekend is almost here. Not that this weeks challenges have been for nothing, I did learn I've grown as a person - things that may have knocked me down in the past, I worked right through finding compromises that turned out even better than initially planned (Kinko's, I love you and your late night hours) and remained calm through it all, with the exception of one early morning panic which I've since blocked out (although I fear my favorite was forever scarred by this particular moment. Bless his sweet heart). At the end of the day everything worked out and I walked away with a few laughable moments that will forever be in my memory and some tips for future - like always reconfirm your car service for an early morning pick up. As of now, I have absolutely nothing planned for the weekend except to take some time to smell the roses (or tulips in my case). Happy weekend. xoxo

3 Things.

After a long couple of weeks, a relaxing weekend is exactly what was needed. I forget sometimes just how important it is to unplug* and simply enjoy the ones you are with. Here are a few things that made my weekend that much sweeter.

*I have a new iPhone and have no clue how to use it.

1. Attending a concert on Friday night only to end up enjoying local opening band, Forrest Day, even more.

2. Ziggy eagerly awaiting my mom's arrival to the beach house

3. A lovely little walk down by the Yacht Harbor.

3 Things.

We made it! Our road trip from North Carolina to California was a success and we arrived safely in San Francisco on Saturday. Thanks to a mildly absurd number of cups of coffee, flavorful (and sometimes questionable) BBQ from state-to-state, catching up with old friends and making some new ones along the way for getting us through the loooong journey. This trip was such a departure from anything I've ever done before and so grateful to have the opportunity to see our beautiful country with someone I love so much.

1. Our route to California. All 2,961 thousand miles of it!

2. New coffee table and glass art for the apartment all made by my favorite.

3. Ziggy getting comfortable in his new Mini.

California Love.

I saw some amazing landscape while traveling this week; this is my favorite view right before we crossed over into sweet home California.

3 Things.

The road trip is off to a great start. As soon as I landed in North Carolina, I hopped in the (huge!) moving truck with my favorite and our cross country adventure officially began. We headed up through Tennessee and landed in Louisville, Kentucky where we stayed the night with some friends. Day 2 we started off early, crossing through Indiana, Illinois, Missouri and finally stopped in Kansas where we will be for a few days. Then, we we'll continue on our journey until we arrive home sweet home in San Francisco.

1. Our home away from home for the next week.

2. An amazing dinner while in Kentucky. I had some braised veggies that I haven't been able to get out of my mind since.

3. Currently stop - the beautiful and freezing state of Kansas.

A 3-day weekend to top off my vacation is almost more than I know how to handle; it's been years since I've had time like this to simply enjoy life. While I soon head back to reality, it won't be too long until things shake up again and can't wait to share what's in store. Until then, here are a few things that continue to linger on in my mind as I adjust back from my New York state of mind.

1. A bowl of fresh berries and Kusmi tea to start off each day on the right foot.

2. Finally seeing Jersey Boys - while it's passed through San Francisco several times, the timing has just never been right. More theatre is a must in my life.

3. Indulging in The Plaza's ice cream sundae from the world's coziest bed = heaven!

New York State of Mind.

After a long, beautiful week in New York, it's finally time to head home and get back to reality. Typically each trip to NY revolves solely around fashion week, but this time we branched out taking in a Broadway show, spent time walking around the lively city streets, shopping (what's new?) and met some incredible new friends. Now don't get me wrong, my heart will always belong to all things fashion, but it was great to see New York in a different light.

Luke's Lobster.

Is it possible to be addicted to Luke's Lobster? If so, my name is Jessica and I'm a lobster-holic. Literally, the best lobster, crab and shrimp rolls I've ever had. Mmmm
