3 Things. {Halloween Edition}

Although today got off to a rough start {delayed flight}, Halloween was fun and low key. Nothing in particular planned; a simple pumpkin decorating project {3 weeks in the making}, food so delicious I didn't have time to snap photos between mouthfulls {hot, huh?}, and being back home with my little guy after a quick weekend in Palm Springs. Since last year Halloween was spent here, this years celebration was exactly what I was looking for.

 1. Mummie pumpkins

2. The best potluck my office has had to date.

3. The sweetest little devil I ever laid eyes on.

What Goes Around Comes Around.

Picnic is one of my favorite places to find the perfect nothing you never knew you were looking for, like this Make A Wish bracelet in the shape of California from Dogeared. A few years ago I took a big risk and things didn't work out quite like I expected {although completely how they should be}. One day, I received a similar necklace to this bracelet with a note that read "Something to hope for" from a good friend reminding me I have great people that care about me. Now it certainly didn't solve my problems, but it did make me smile and remind me to focus on those who matter in life. I'm hoping this will bring a little hope back to the same friend who first bought the necklace for me.

3 Things {Home Tour Edition}.

This past weekends weather was outstanding; perfect for the JLSF Home Tour in Sea Cliff. The day was spent shopping at the marketplace, walking through the most gorgeous homes and an afternoon mother-daughter lunch with some pretty fabulous mothers and daughters - a new tradition perhaps?

1. The debut of the JLSF Fogcutter - my and Val's baby.

2. A day viewing stunning homes with some of California {and Nevada's finest}.

3. Lunch at the Cliff House - two crab sandwich, I think I'm in love.

Prosciutto-wrapped Scallops.

While speaking with my grandma yesterday, she told me all about her recent trip to Nantucket, especially highlighting the prosciutto-wrapped scallops she enjoyed. Plucked right from the sea, my mother, grandmother, great Aunt and cousin prepared these delicious bites right at home. Bummer  for me missing the fresh scallops, double bummer for missing out on quality time with these lovely ladies. I'd be lucky to become half the women they are.

Ingredients
1 lb uncooked sea scallops, halved if large
1 tablespoon olive oil
20 fresh basil leaves
1/4 lb prosciutto, cut into 3x1 1/2 inch strips

Directions
Heat oven to 425°F. In a small bowl, combine scallops and oil; toss to coat. Place basil leaf on center of each prosciutto strip, or the top each with a scallop, and roll up. Place seam side down in ungreased 15x10x1-inch baking pan and bake for 8-10 minutes. Insert {decorative} toothpick into each wrapped scallop and serve warm.

Enjoy!

Natural Beauty.

Learn how to be a real natural beauty with items you probably have around your house right now.

1. Avocado is an excellent moisturizer; great face mask, mashed up in hair or just use anywhere you could use a little extra hydration.

2. Brown Sugar. There's no sweeter natural exfoliant. Mix this with a little olive, almond or apricot oil for a lip and body scrub with a lovely scent.

3. Lemon, the acid in this fruit whitens nails, gives your hair highlights with a little sun and helps with dry, flaky skin.

4. Cherries are another antioxidant favorite; great for evening out skin tone.

5. Edamame = collagen. Need I say more? Soy foods help to preserve skin-firming collagen because it is rich in isoflavones.

6. Oatmeal is a fast-acting soother and has major anti-inflammatory properties. You can drop it in a bath, apply as a facial or even use it as a gentle scrub.

7. Honey is a natural antimicrobial while it soothes and draws moisture into skin. Use it in masks or as a spot treatment.

8. Green tea is full of antioxidants and helpful for reducing redness, rinsing your face in cool green tea is a great way to gently soothe skin.
9. Papaya. Want to decongest your skin fast? The papain in this fruit makes one of the best enzyme masks around.

3 Things.

This past weekend in Palm Springs was awesome. Minus finalizing the JLSF magazine {that big project I’ve mentioned here and there}; craziest game of catch I’ve played in a while – thanks, Val – the weekend was calm and relaxing. Time was spent cheering on the DCHS Eagles at their Homecoming game {which they won, of course. I’m good luck} and shopping at my favorite street fair at the College of the Desert. Most of all I spent time relaxing with my boys, which is always a good time.

  1. The Eagles bringing home a victory {although both teams were the Eagles ;)}
  1. Since I’m the world’s worst at self mani’s, but sometimes just don’t have time during a busy week – meet my new little travel solve. Her name is Sally.
  1. My 49ers bringing it home yesterday {while causing quite the stir}

Upgrade Ziggy.

{Berlin dog bowl}

No, no I would never give that little bundle of love up. But because he has been especially sweet and incredibly patient with me while so busy lately I decided he needed a little upgrade - I'm sure he's thrilled!

Time to Celebrate!

But rather than champagne {early morning meeting}, I opted for chocolate mousse from Fine Foods at Home and an early bedtime - I'm getting OLD!

For those of you close to me, I’m sure you’ve heard me make mention of the JLSF Fogcutter magazine I’ve been working on for months with close friend, Val {also mentioned here}. Well, it’s off to the printer and am so excited to see all of the hard work and time involved come to life! More details to follow…

Fabiana.

{Alexander Wang Fabiana Sandals}

I have to say I feel like a bit of a super hero the way I've been burning the candle at both ends lately, but so cannot wait to see the final result of a project I've been working on for quite a while with good friend, Val -It's so close I can almost taste the wine. And I so want to wear these shoes while celebrating.

3 Things.

Although quite busy, last week was pretty awesome. Between the Blue Angels zooming by my office windows, a bitter sweet going away party at the Tonga Room {followed by dinner at Lalola in great company},  accomplish a ton during a chaotic work week and made major strides towards finalizing an upcoming project, I was more than thrilled to have a nice, quiet weekend.

Finally, I'm beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Finally.

1. The sound of the Blue Angels flying over the City.

2. The delicious {& dangerous} lava bowl.

There is nothing better than the instant happy that comes over peoples faces when you hand them one of these boxes.

French Cognac.

{OPI French Cognac & Ruehl clutch}

A brick red with a w(h)ine-y tint. Perfect compliment for my Fall favorites and quite appropriate for that {metaphorical} wall I hit yesterday. And now I whine.

3 Things.

{bloody mary + crab cakes benedict with house potatoes = perfect breakfast}

Thankfully, this weekend was pretty uneventful. I just spent time roaming around the city catching up with some of my favorite people {and pooch} - life has suddenly hit a new level of crazy busy. Here are a few items that brought some excitement to my otherwise calm, quiet weekend.

{Tory Burch double wrap bracelet, Rolex watch, & vintage gold bangles}

1. A savory breakfast at Caffe Delucchi on an unexpectedly beautiful Sunday morning {thank you, Indian summer! I'll hold onto you as long as I can}

2. The ultimate in luxe arm candy - my mom's, of course.

3. Watching a folding flash mob...only in SF, right?
