Hello, Lover.

Bet you thought I was going to show some Sex and the City worthy shoes, huh? But seriously, I just bought this T3 SinglePass Whirl from Sephora and since then,  my life has dramatically changed.  Who else knew it was so easy to create fun, beachy waves?!  And why didn't my hairdresser tell me I could do this myself?  Although the T3 is a bit pricey, it's totally worth the investment.  After all, your hairstyle is one accessory you "wear" everyday.

And just so I don't disappoint....

Aren't these Jimmy Choo's to die for? I have butterflies.

One Thing.

So my little guy, Ziggy, has been under the weather lately – like Day 3 at the vet’s office. While I know he’s being taken care of by the best of the best, I feel just terrible for him. And even through all the discomfort, he still has the sweetest disposition about him. I’m truly lucky to have him as my little companion. I just can’t wait until he’s feeling back to normal and healthy again. Please continue to think good thoughts for him; I love him so.

NYFW Favorites.

The day started with hair & makeup at Ric Pipino's Salon 57.

After a quick stop back by the hotel, we headed over to Lincoln Center.

10:00am: Carolina Herrera

Carolina Herrera, this collection is the epitome of elegance with fun, flirty hints of color. I would wear every single piece; each one so lovely.

 See the full show here.

11:00am: Carlos Miele

Carlos Miele, I can't say much more except he is a hopelessly endearing man. Listening to Carlos speak about the inspiration behind his collection sort of leaves you hanging on every word {especially with that accent}

See full show here.

3:00pm: Reem Acra

 Reem Acra, showed one impeccable dress after another; too many favorites it's ridiculous to even attempt to edit.

See full show here.

A quick run with Phillip Bloch backstage at Reem Acra. Ah-dorable!

Took a quick peek backstage the Betsey Johnson show before it started. A whole kind of crazy, chaotic I was not prepared to deal with, but always a good time.

6:00pm: Betsey Johnson

Loved the '60s vibe and how the models walked the show; very personalized.

#BJNYFW 4 life! See full show here.

And then got chummy with the Mickey H from Paper Magazine. Follow him immediately, right now on twitter @AskMrMickey. He's glorious!

7:00pm: Prete & Bruno
And then Prete and Bruno - the newbies to NYFW. They brought a pretty great show full of black pieces incorporated peeks of green and gold mixed in.

Obviously, I got that memo.
See full show here.

This past trip to NY with my mother was my busiest {and most fun} yet and it has left me a little exhausted. Besides shopping, enjoying The Plaza, wandering around The Metropolitan Museum of Art, spending time with family and hitting some of our favorite restaurants, the time spent at Lincoln Center is always my most favorite. I still love it. Every minute of it. I appreciate that I'm even invited to the shows, let alone allowed backstage. I'll never know when it will all be taken away from me, so for the moment I just enjoy each moment to the fullest. Quite an eventful week; I hope you enjoyed the highlights.

Sweet-ish Treat.

Poco Dolce means "little sweet" or "not too sweet" and I have to say quite fitting. Until now, I didn't care for dark chocolate. Now, I'm in heaven. Thank goodness the they are based in San Francisco. I'm hooked.

3 Things.

Today flew by. After a lovely weekend spent in Palm Springs relaxing, today was the farthest thing from that. From my delayed flight to the phony bubbly flight attendant and to the rest of the crazy that seemed to be coming at me from all sides, I handled it all. But couldn't help myself from daydreaming about some of the fun I just had. It feels so far away.

1. Checking out the stars in downtown Palm Springs {wearing my favorite Dolce Vita's}.

2. Noming on a delicious sushi dinner at Edokku. Seriously, I rate this one of my top 3 sushi spots.

3. New arm candy from Marianne of Palm Springs. Plus I got to meet Marianne - she's 73 and fabulous. I could live in her over the top boutique.

The Daily.

Thakoon dress//vintage coat & necklace//Marc Jacobs handbag//Miu Miu shoes//my great Grandmother's ring//DVF sunglasses//hair & make up c/o Pipino Salon

My trip to New York was a complete whirlwind, I almost can't believe it's over. I've barely had any time to reflect on all the exciting things I just experienced days ago. Now I'm running off to Palm Springs for some much needed R&R {and maybe even a little tan}. More to come on NYC...

Have a great, long weekend!

Style Tips from Ken Downing.

For those of you who don't know who Ken Downing is you live under a rock, he is the SVP and Fashion Director of Neiman Marcus. Within minutes of listing to Ken speak, it's easy to understand he is a creative genius in both fashion and design. He's even more stunning in person; as though there's a constant breeze tousling his hair. Ken Downing is beautiful. And what more, quite insightful as to Fall 2012 must haves. Here are a few golden nuggets of fashion knowledge for you to live by. Immediately.

Always remember, black is a constant and navy is the new classic; so it's time to invest. Don't be afraid to mix navy and black. Done right, it can look European chic.

Navy Baby.

Jackets are back in a major way. Long or short, experiment with sleeve lengths and shapes, and different fabrics and textures. And rather than wear it the old, conventional way, try draping your coat or jacket on your shoulders {this way you can hold your pocket book and your glass of champagne, of course}

Jacket Frenzy.

If you don't already have a tuxedo jacket, what are you waiting for? Run now and get one. The tuxedo jacket is a must have and can be worn with skinny pants or over a long dress and instantly pull your look together.

Must. Have. Now.

Military touches are a fun addition to your Fall 2012 wardrobe. This influence was apparent in Victoria Beckham's fall 2012 ready-to-wear show. Click here for full presentation.

Ageless Appeal.

 {Eileen Fisher glovette//my Great Grandmother's ring}

When my mom and I go to New York City, shopping is a major part of our trip. Then again, who wouldn't like that?  For quite awhile now, we've both loved the Eileen Fisher experience {see here when I first discovered EF} and visit the Stanford and Fillmore shops regularly. But last Saturday while in New York, we were in for a sweet treat when we found ourselves in front of the Eileen Fisher Boutique on Madison Avenue - Two floors! We had a great time perusing each piece; I was drawn to mustard-colored glovettes with just a bit of bronzey sparkle which I had to have {every girl needs a bit of sparkle now and then}. My creative energy was peaked once meeting Delyana from this scarf tying video of scarf tying options - such a great way to change up your look. Delyana actually works at the Madison Avenue boutique; I just love how this company utilizes and celebrates its personnel to represent their company - after all, they're there on a daily basis, and who would know better?

A few days later, while shopping in Soho, we made a stop at the EF store there.  Again, another lovely experience and what a gorgeous store, don't you think?

Actually, I love the Soho area so much I think I could live there happily ever after....

It's Show Time.

I feel so lucky to say I'm attending shows at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week another year. Each February my mom and I jet off to New York, completely indulge in Fashion Week and make memories to last a lifetime. Here are some of the amazing designers I am fortunate to be sitting in at Lincoln Center.

{The ever so elegant, Carolina Herrera}

“I love the idea of elegance and intricacy, but whether it is in a piece of clothing or a fragrance, the intricacy must appear as simplicity. I think that standard has served me well; women seem to love my clothes. I am extremely grateful for the success that they have given me.”
- Carolina Herrera

His designs transcend the influences of his Brazilian roots reconstructing them for new audiences. The designer also distills a variety of urban environments, drawing inspiration from very distinct groups of women: cosmopolitan, sophisticated and independent - becoming clearer that life's frontiers are imaginary.

{Reem Acra}

Reem Acra’s designs epitomize global glamour by offering women her innate fashion sense, European style and understanding of what looks and feels beautiful. Interlaced with her sense of luxury, her regal designs are developed with a modern aesthetic. The ready-to-wear and bridal collections evoke an ethereal quality, which appeals to a discerning clientele including personalities, royalty, and style setting women from all corners of the world.

{Cartwheel Queen, Betsey Johnson}

 “If Betsey Johnson didn’t exist, we would have to invent her, simply to remind ourselves that fashion can be fun. She’s the original wild child and set to paint the town pink!” - unknown reporter

{The Freshman of NYFW, Prete & Bruno}

"Our collection is for] a woman who wants to highlight her femininity without falling into banality. Silhouettes evoke the great refined women of the past...The silence, the abstract purity of form enriched with refined details. Tradition filtered by design and sometimes renewed by a sort of provocative copy and paste. The traditional elegance inspires elegance and sensuality: a sort of need to return to the origins of fashion. The colors of this season: black carefully matched to green and gold."
