Mind, Body & Soul.

Earlier this week, I participated in a 3-day cleanse with a co-worker. Like a 4 green drinks, 2 protein shakes, 1 radish soup and a million glasses of water with NO food kinda cleanse. I have to admit, I was lucky - no headaches, dizziness, or random bitchy spells (that I could measure), but did become keenly aware that I'm overly obsessed with food. Now that I am back on solids, I really think twice about what I'm putting into my body and asking myself, is it worth it.... Typically, it is, but at least I'm questioning myself first.

Little Black Bootie.

Spent Saturday evening with my guy perusing each aisle at DSW and walked out with these cuties. Perfect date.

3 Things.

{Enjoying the bloom from our holiday Amaryllis later than usual, but a nice surprise}

Minus brunch with my girlfriends and a little shoe shopping at DSW, I didn't venture too far from home and loved every minute of it. Sometimes a quiet weekend is just want you need to recharge and gain perspective. And with the days until I leave for New York counting down, a relaxing weekend was exactly what was needed.

Salt & Vinegar Kale Chips.

Just a little twist on one of my favorite snacks, crispy kale chips

Ingredients
1 bunch of kale
1 1/2 tbsp distilled white vinegar
1 tbsp olive oil
Sea salt

Directions: Heat oven to 350 degrees. Wash & dry kale thoroughly and tear into pieces, removing the stems. Place into a bowl and add white vinegar and toss kale coating entirely. Lay kale flat on a tray and let sit. Once vinegar is dry, place back into the bowl and add olive oil. Once kale is coated, lay flat on a cookie sheet and sprinkle with sea sale. Bake for 20 minutes. Serve and enjoy!

3 Things.

{Time spent at home with these sweet faces after a long week}

The long weekend was full of many ups with one big down, the 49er game. Not let that completely overshadow the good. On Saturday we piled in the car and took a trip down Highway 1 along the coast to Moss Beach and spent the day soaking up the sun. Short sleeve weather in January, I love it. My (future) brother-in-law had his house warming party on Sunday and then Monday visited a possible wedding venue. And what made it all even better is I had Ziggy by my side through it all. Love him.

Crispy Carrot Chips.

Sweet and spicy at the same time. Adios, potato chips. I don't think I'll ever go back to regular chips.

Ingredients
4 or 5 carrots, cut into disks
1 tbsp coconut balsamic vinegar
1 tbsp olive oil
Sea salt
Pepper

Directions: Heat oven to 425 degrees. Combine carrots in a medium size bowl and toss with coconut balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Lay flat on a baking sheet and sprinkle with sea salt and pepper. Bake for 15-20 minutes, depending on how crispy you want them. Serve and enjoy!

Red Carpet Red.

Red Carpet Red.

Burberry dress / Dsquared2 red cardigan / Carven short sleeve shirt / TIBI red shirt / James Lakeland coat, $465 / Valentino short skirt / Helmut Lang legging / Valentino slingback pumps, $2,810 / Yves Saint Laurent clutch / Mulberry leather bracelet / Pomellato earrings, $2,000

The color red dominated the Golden Globes red carpet in a variety of shades from an eye catching crimson to a sexy Merlot. Let's face it, red is difficult enough to wear much less on a clashing red carpet, but Lupita Nyong'o's Ralph Lauren dress has inspired me to give red another chance. Because when done right, it's flawless.

3 Things.

{Waffles just taste better in the shape of Mickey and Minnie}

This weekend was pretty mellow and warmly welcomed. After all the holiday hustle it was nice to have nothing planned except to escape from the city back home to San Jose. There's nothing like a homemade meal and a 49er win to re-energize you for the week. The other perk of visiting your childhood home - pajama's all day is completely acceptable. It's practically a requirement.

New Flavor.

Luscious, sweet and thick. Sounds a little dirty, I know, but it's the description I received when asking about the newest balsamic flavor available from The Olive Press at Jacuzzi Winery. After a day of wine tasting, you just can't go wrong indulging in a variety of olive oil, balsamic vinegar and tapenade to your hearts delight. And the thousand teeny tiny squares of bread isn't a bad idea before heading back to the city. Perfect for the coconut lover (or not, like myself), the flavor wonderfully compliments desert or any seafood dish #nomnom

Unzipped

I'm a huge lover of New York street style. To me, it's wherefashion comes together and I always leave feeling inspired. During my last trip for work I visited a client in her showroom and quickly noticed all of the girls wearing similar style boots - short, black with buckles or grommets or zipper (or all of them at once). I was particular drawn to the overall look because it was an interesting compliment to the designers California modern inspired collection. Ever since I've been on the hunt for a pair of my very own. When I came across these J. Litvack boots, I knew I had found my perfect pair.

3 Things.

Transitioning into a new year bring both moments of reflection while looking forward to what the year ahead may hold. One of the many reasons why I love this blog is that it allows be to look back over my life chronologically. On a bad day, I can flip back through the days, weeks, months and years as a reminder of how full my life truly is and just how fortunate I am. And while the only child in me wishes I could fast forward to find certainty of my future, I'm learning to appreciate the mystery surrounding each and every day. I have a feeling 2014 is going to be the best year yet.

1. Friday night dinner dates at Polkers are the best.

2. Spending time with my best childhood friend catching up.The best friends are those you can pick back up right where you left off.

3. Views like this make for a much better Sunday night of laundry.
