3 Things.

Volunteering at Project Open Hand

Some volunteer work, Happy Hour with friends, a potluck in Oakland and a walk to North Beach perfectly rounded out this busy weekend.

Dinner at Tacolicious - I had no idea they opened one in North Beach

Mind, Body & Soul.

Earlier this week, I participated in a 3-day cleanse with a co-worker. Like a 4 green drinks, 2 protein shakes, 1 radish soup and a million glasses of water with NO food kinda cleanse. I have to admit, I was lucky - no headaches, dizziness, or random bitchy spells (that I could measure), but did become keenly aware that I'm overly obsessed with food. Now that I am back on solids, I really think twice about what I'm putting into my body and asking myself, is it worth it.... Typically, it is, but at least I'm questioning myself first.

Golden Rule.

{opi}

The simple things are often the most important and can sometimes be the easiest to overlook - I'm guilty of this as well. So this year, I want to continue to focus on the most important things I do have and less attention on what I don't have by resolving to remember to take joy in the small things in life, take care of the ones I love and continue to volunteer in my community, to have more faith in myself, what I am capable of and to trust that God would never give me anything I can't handle, and to always be true to myself {and open up more in my blog}.

Time to Celebrate!

But rather than champagne {early morning meeting}, I opted for chocolate mousse from Fine Foods at Home and an early bedtime - I'm getting OLD!

For those of you close to me, I’m sure you’ve heard me make mention of the JLSF Fogcutter magazine I’ve been working on for months with close friend, Val {also mentioned here}. Well, it’s off to the printer and am so excited to see all of the hard work and time involved come to life! More details to follow…

TOMS loves Moms.

{TOMS loves Moms limited edition shoe}

I was lucky enough to grab a pair for my mom before these limited edition canvas print cuties ran out.
 Sweet enough for her to wear on her walks, yet comfy enough to wear as slippers. Plus with every pair you purchase, TOMS gives a pair of shoes to a child in need.

Happy Mother's Day to the best mom I could ever ask for. Thank you for all of your guidance, wisdom and style.

Bloggers Day of Silence.

It takes a lot to silence me, but for a good cause - no problem. This is why your regularly scheduled blog post will not post tomorrow as I will be participating in For Japan With Love. The events that have forever affected Japan and those across the Pacific have weighted heavy on my heart and my mind. Earlier this week, I donated here and now Ever Ours and Utterly Engaged have partnered in an effort to unite bloggers in a day of silence to raise awareness and respect and acknowledge the devastation going on in Japan.

All money donated to For Japan With Love is going towards ShelterBox's for those currently displaced from their homes. ShelterBox provide emergency shelter and lifesaving supplies for families around the world who are affected by disasters at the time when they need it the most. Each large green ShelterBox is tailored to a disaster but typically contains a disaster relief tent for an extended family, blankets, water storage and purification equipment, cooking utensils, a stove, a basic tool kit, a children’s activity pack and other vital items.

Make your donations here.

Remember, every little bit helps xoxo

To Japan, With Love.

The last few weeks have been tough for me, but in comparison to the events recently occurred in Japan and across the Pacific, my problems are nonexistent in comparison. Along with my prayers, I’ve donated to the Red Cross (here) for those seeking refuge from the tsunami. My thoughts are with those who have friends and family in Japan.

Doing good.....

The other night I attended an event called Network for a Cure. Typically, this is not my sort of thing, but I figured Why not? What do I have to lose..? So, for a $20 entry fee (actually a donation as 100% of this going to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society...ummm, AMAZING!), I discovered Barrel House, a cool invite-only venue hidden in SoMa and ate tasty appetizers from Above & Beyond Catering and sipped on wine from Michel-Schlumberger (all of which were donated and delicious!). I had a great time meeting new people and catching up with friends.. and even did a little dancing to the music spun by the Santa Cruz DJ Company. All in all - a pretty fantastic night and am happy with myself for trying something new. You really don't know what you are missing out on unless you try new things and have new adventures and take chances..something I intend to continue doing.

All smiles over here :)
