Color High.

Color High.

Since participating in the Mehndi Celebration just days ago I've turned color obsessed. I want everything in vibrant fabrics, luxurious jewels and fine detailed workmanship

3 Things.

This past weekend was just amazing. Rather than our typical turkey Thanksgiving, my mom and I hopped on a plane and headed to Texas for my cousin's wedding. The wedding was fun and magical and the out pour of love for the bride and groom was a constant presence. From the spicy scents of the food to the brightly colored fabric and intricately worked jewelry to the dancing {Jai Ho!} to the tiniest of details - each one full of love and thought. Weekends like this bring things into perspective; I am so blessed to be a part of such loving family and am enjoying our time more and more as we grow finding soul mates. Here are a few weekend highlights.

1. Trying new things - the food was delicious!

2. Finding out that I was the only girl at the party who didn't use any pins to secure my sari (see where I learned here)

3. The beautiful newlyweds.

I just wanted to thank two special people to me – my parents, on this day of thanks.

I love you both so much!

Pretty Pair.

{Chubby Cheeks and Curry Up Don't Be Late}

Appropriate combination; I plan on coming back from Thanksgiving one stuffed little samosa - can't wait! {plus both colors look fabulous with my sari}

3 Things.

Not sure how we did it, but my mom and I managed to accomplish a ton this past weekend doing everything we love to do - shopping, eating and watching our 49ers win. Starting early Saturday morning in the city knowing we would eventually end up in Santa Cruz made each stop all that more exciting. The only thing missing was my Uggs for our Sunday morning errands.

1. My mom's understanding and knowledge of Tory Burch's product boggles my mind; she nails it every time.

2. The yacht harbor once again looking gorgeous {before the rain}

3. Finding the perfect accessories for the sari I'm going to be wearing in just a few days at my cousin's wedding.

Noble Passion.

 A deep, iridescent navy blue with a brightened blue-violet shimmer from Le Metier de Beaute. It reminded me to get one of my favorite scarfs back in the mix. Plus it's fun to shake things up a bit from time to time.

3 Things. {All Food, All the Time Weekend}

Ok, seriously I ate way too much delicious food this weekend {and loved every moment}, but it was mostly for charity after all. Now that my body has to be in a saree in just a few weeks for a wedding, it's back to veggies and Fine Foods at Home for me. And some yoga will be required as well.

1. Salted Caramel Cupkate

2. The Bachelor from Mixt Greens

*3. Champagne

*4. Mushroom soup

*5. Snapper with slow-roasted fennel

*6. Canneles de Bourdeaux

*7. Poached pears flambes with Grand Marnier

8. Buttermilk pancakes

9. Red & yellow beet salad at Jupiter

*These especially lovely dishes were served at La Boulange Friday dinner benefiting AIDS LifeCylce. The rest was purely gluttonous consumption. And needs to stop. I want to know what it's like to be hungry again.

Beachy Keen.

{skirt-Missoni for Target, shirt-John Varvatos for Converse, necklace-JCrew, shoes-Elie Tahari, sunglasses-DVF, bracelet-COD street fair, ring-The Treasured Accessory}

It's hard to believe that is Texas behind me; most people forget about the beachy part along the Gulf. It's hard to believe I was just there only one week ago. And while my mind is still excitingly trying to plan my next trip back, I can't help but be even more excited because my dad is coming to town. What's even better is we are attending Friday Dinner at La Boulange to benefit Aids LifeCycle - Ride to End Aids tonight. See here when I attended back in June and had the best time.

Some days I think I'm the luckiest girl in the world.

Hope your day is as lucky!

The Wedge.

No, no not the shoe {for the first time ever}. But lately I've been obsessed with wedge salads – blue cheese crumbles, a little bit of onion topped with bacon bits – how could you go wrong?

Ingredients
  • 1 head iceberg lettuce, cut into quarters
  • Blue cheese dressing
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese
  • 1 cup cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 1 tomato, minced (totally optional - not my fave)

Directions

On each salad plate, place 1 wedge of lettuce turned on its side. Pour blue cheese dressing on wedge. Sprinkle with tomatoes, green onions, crumbled blue cheese, and bacon bits.

3 Things.

This past weekend I accompanied my mom to a board meeting in Port Aransas, Texas {near Corpus Christi}. We have a family condo there, and arrived in Texas just in time for a walk on the beach, and a cat nap before the Friday night dinner party. Saturday I spent reading and watching tv, just like when I was a little girl and Saturday night, my mom and I drove out to Snoopy's Pier, a family tradition, and sat on the pier while we enjoyed dinner, and watched the fishing boats come in with their catches. I hadn't been to the condo for 15 years. I may have been avoiding going back in part because of the happy memories I have there with my family. Whatever the case may be, sooo many years later, I'm glad I went back. Even though things are different now, I look forward to returning and creating new memories there.

1. Port Royal, vacation destination - LOVE!

2. Snoopy's Pier for reminding me of old times and looking forward to new memories

3. Continental Airlines; the best airline there is. They have been good to my family and I feel blessed for the opportunities in travel I have had.

Mixed Match.

{Audrey vest, Collective Concepts tank, Levi's shorts, Dolce Vita wedges, DVF sunnies}

I bought this vest at Shotwell in the city and the tank at Ross in Santa Cruz and have barely worn either. That is, until they ended up on the same hanger {I layer the lighter pieces; both for room and style options}. Now I doubt I'll ever wear them apart again.

It's starting to rain in San Francisco. I'm out.

The Falls. {Palm Springs}

The perfect place for a date night in Palm Springs - a great martini, fresh lobster, and chocolate toffee, strawberries, fudge, and whip cream for dessert with espresso {most decadent ever}. You can even dine on your own private balcony overlooking Downtown. Love.

Cabbage Crunchy Salad.

I could live off of this recipe I love it so much!

Ingredients:
1 C canola oil
l/2 C sugar
l/2 C vinegar
2 packets of Beef Ramen noodles
1 C slivered almonds
1 C sunflower seeds
1 lb of Coleslaw cabbage (Trader Joe's is my favorite)
1 bunch chopped green onions

Directions:
Mix canola oil, sugar, vinegar, and 2 flavor packets from Beef Ramen noodles, shake up and refrigerate. Next crunch up Ramen noodles and mix with slivered almonds and sunflower seeds and store in airtight container. When you are ready to eat, mix Coleslaw cabbage with chopped green onions, add all the dry stuff, and then toss in the "dressing".

Enjoy!

Sandcastle Dreams.

Something about this beautiful mauvy, shimmery taupe reminds me of the Port Aransas sand and that it's time to pay a visit.
