All That Sparkles.

There is nothing I love more during award season than the looks from the red carpet. And this year's Emmys left no disappointment. The running theme on the red carpet is all about the statement piece--statement jewelry, statement accessories and statement dresses. From sparkling jewels to glittering gowns, here are some of my personal favorites..

Gilt-y Pleasure

Each day, I look forward to seeing that email pop-up with the sales that will be beginning on Gilt Groupe in just minutes. I get a quick thrill navigating through the different boutiques searching for the best deals. I came across the Candela shop and fell instantly in love. Immediately, my eyes where drawn to a pair of Loubouton-esque studded ballerina slippers and then a pair of perforated brown, buckle booties at incredibly discounted prices--Shoe Heaven!! Rite of Passage

Just seeing the Tiffany Blue box is enough to make a girl's heart skip a beat. One's first elegant piece of jewelry can feel almost like a ritual event marking a person's progress from one status to another. And this past birthday, I was the lucky recipient of one of these iconic boxes containing the timeless Tiffany Somerset ring-- a classic piece that will last a lifetime.

{A special thank you to Aaron for such a thoughtful birthday gift}

Wonderland

Recently, I had the pleasure of house sitting in The Mission District. Ziggy and I left our studio apartment behind and moved to a spacious 2 bedroom flat - fully adorned with wildly eclectic furnishings and rich colors. Not only is this an easy and convenient way to explore new neighborhoods, but a nice change in routine. I tried new restaurants--Luna Park and Foreign Cinema (highly recommend) and sampled indulgent treats at Tartine. Ziggy and I explored uncharted territory (for us) in the city; especially nice days walking to Dolores Park just minutes away. I even became a commuter on BART - one of San Francisco's mass transit systems. Sometimes a quick escape is all the break needed from the monotonous day-to-day to gain new perspective.

I heart The Mission.
