Scenic views at the Ritz Half Moon Bay

Sometimes weekends just don't work out quite as planned. After experiencing car sickness on the windy roads to Half Moon Bay, my Saturday plans were shot. Feeling like a new person the next day, S surprised me with a trip back to Half Moon to pick up flowers for the week fresh from the farms. Such a sweet one, he is.

Sunny Daze.

This weekend is going to be a hot one in the city and I couldn't be more ready for it! To escape the heat, we're heading to Half Moon Bay for Saturday brunch with family and then meeting my dear friend, Juvella, to explore the flower farms and indulge in a lobster roll at Sam's. As if that wasn't enough for the perfect weekend, Sunday we're heading to the Treasure Island flea in search of some treasures for our tiny apartment. We're determined to transform our tiny apartment into something more functional, while maintaining the comfortable, chic feel. Wish us luck and enjoy the weekend.

Sweetest Surprise.

I have to admit, I've wanted a Vitamix for quite a while, but at the same time, equally as intimidated to give it a try. Let's be honest, I'm not the best cook, but I love to contribute with sides, vegetables and sauces. Luckily, my Godfather made me face my fear when he bought one as a wedding gift and this past weekend I gave it a try. Totally hooked.

Based on my farmer's market picks that week and what was readily available in my cabinets, I selected a fresh blueberry vinaigrette to accompany the summer salad on Saturday nights menu. Now I'm partial to sweet, while S is drawn to more savory flavor, so this was a true test.  One I passed with flying colors. The sweetness of the blueberry was diffused by the mustard and balsamic. And the pepper took things to the next level. So delicious and perfect for the tropical weather we've had in the city lately.

Ingredients:
1/4 cup fresh blueberries
2tbsp maple syrup
2tbsp balsamic vinegar
1/4tsp dry mustard
1/8tsp salt
Dash ground black pepper
1/4 cup olive oil

Directions: place all ingredients above (in that order) into your Vitamix. Simply turn the dial to 1 and slowly increase speed to 10. Blend for about 25 seconds, until desired consistency is reached.

Enjoy!

The Wet Brush.

I don't know how I've gone this long without this brush in my life. Full transparency - I've never, ever been able to run my fingers through my hair without snagging into a tangle. Quite honestly, I've just more or less convinced myself that I would never have perfect looking hair. Beachy, yes. Neat, never. That is until my dear friend Lisa from Salon Mona Lisa introduced me to The Wet Brush, a brush that allows you gently loosen knots while your hair is still wet (something I never thought I would be able to do). It's quite the wonder.

3 Things.

Sunset from the 280.

The last few weekends have been go, go, go. So after S partied (a little too) hardy on Friday night at a bachelor party our weekend plans changed just a hair. No more movie night at the Kabuki and trying out a new restaurant, rather he slept and I caught up on magazines. Later that afternoon, we decided to get out of the apartment and took a drive down the coast. The beauty of the ocean awes me, I can take it in for hours.

That evening, when we returned home pulled together dinner with what we had on hand a and settled in watching some of our favorite 80s flicks. While not what I had initially planned for the weekend, it was exactly what I needed. In my everyday gig, I pour over the finest of details so it was a treat to escape the minutia of it all and surrender to the weekend. This is life, an it never goes exactly as planned, but that's truly the beauty of it all.

Reminiscing our sweet day at City Hall

And just days after our wedding, I found myself right back at City Hall for the wedding of dear friends followed by a chic backyard reception at their home. It was all just so lovely. The remainder of the weekend was spent relaxing and recouping at home with Ziggy. And of course, indulging in my favorite hangover remedy - a hot capicola sandwich and fried pickles. #nom

Real Love.

A few months ago I had the pleasure of attending the Shades of Summer soiree with my dear friend, Val. While there I had the opportunities to meet the lovely ladies from ThirdLove, an online lingerie company based out of San Francisco. Now you may be thinking to yourself, ordering bras online is next to impossible if you want a proper fit. It's hard enough to determine sizing on your own and it can be so awkward being fitted by a stranger.

Well that's where the ThirdLove genius comes into play. Simply download the ThirdLove app your smartphone and find a full length mirror and grab a slim fitting tank - that's all you need! ThirdLove's unique measurement technology allows you to determine accurate fit (even within a half cup size) from the convenience of your home.

In just a few days, I'm hooked. Never have I been this comfortable and felt better in the clothes that I wear. I've got real love for ThirdLove.

3 Things.

We sat right here every day after breakfast and took in this incredible view

Last week was the best week of my life - I married my best friend in the presence of our beloved family and friends exactly 2 years from the day we met. The day after the celebration, we headed down Hwy 1 to Half Moon Bay for our honeymoon. I'm plan to share the details of our nuptials on the blog, but for now will savor the memories that made last week so special.
